Putting strategy in the action to achieve the stated goals is the main notion of strategy implementation. Strategy implementation refers to the sum total of the activities and choices required for execution of a strategic plan.  In order to achieve organizational goals and objectives, the organization need to be given a careful thought on strategy formulation and implementation.

Operationalising the strategy requires transcending the various components of the strategy to different levels; mobilizing and allocating of resources; structuring authority, responsibilities, task and information flows; and establishing program and policies. It involves analyzing strategic change, organizational structure, organizational culture and selecting the strategy implementation approaches.

Strategy implementation, often described as the action phase of the strategic management process. It covers strategy activation, evaluation and control.  Program, budget and procedures should be drawn up to execute the strategy. It is more operational in character, requires special skill in motivating and managing others. The implementation processes vary considerably between different types and sizes of organizations.

Activating the strategies is strategy implementation. According to Kazmi the implementation tasks put to test the strategists' abilities to allocate resources, design structures, and systems, formulate functional policies, take into account the leadership styles required, and plan for operational effectiveness, besides dealing with various other issues.
