It provides responsibility and accountability and recognises that employees have needs for achievement and self fulfillment. These needs are met by providing opportunities for participation in goal setting process. Subordinates become involved in planning their own careers. There are three basic foundations of MBO:
(a) Goal setting
(b) Feed back
(c) Participation
